S60 Office Applications

Office applications are key solutions for business users. There are many advantages to being able to create new, or access existing, contracts, business plans, sales presentations, financial reports, or any other Microsoft® Office® or Adobe® PDF documents from an S60 device on the go.

Email is expected to be widespread on S60 devices. As such, users need to be able to view common Office email attachments, edit these documents, and then save and forward edited versions of the documents.

Document fidelity and reliable round-trip data integrity is highly significant to business users who need to feel confident when managing email and associated attachments on their S60 device. Users need to be able to view a complex document, make simple edits, and then transfer it back to a PC without causing any content corruption.

The S60 Office pack includes complementary third party applications for handling documents in Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, and ZIP file formats. These applications are pre-installed on a number of S60 products. Alternatively, they are available through the Nokia catalog. If your S60 product does not contain these applications, you can also download them from software vendors’ web sites.

Access to Microsoft Office files – Quickoffice®

Quickoffice® is a mobile office suite for S60-based mobile devices. It provides Microsoft Office-compatible document viewers and editors that are integrated directly into the S60 platform. S60 products may have either of two versions of the Quickoffice application: Quickoffice Professional or Quickoffice Premier, which includes document editing in addition to the viewing capabilities found in Quickoffice Professional.

Quickoffice allows you to review available Quickoffice software downloads, including updates, upgrades, and complementary applications - and then download them to their device. Access to Adobe PDF documents – Adobe Acrobat Reader®

Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) is the de facto standard for electronic document distribution and exchange. PDF format is used very widely and accounts for a large amount of web material published today. Microsoft Office files are often converted to PDF format for document exchange. PDF also preserves a document’s look and integrity, and includes support for document security.

Adobe Acrobat Reader for S60 is a stand-alone application that enables you to open and view documents created in Adobe PDF. (However, the application does not allow you to create or edit PDF documents.) Adobe Acrobat Reader supports selected features in the PDF Reference Specification, Fifth Edition, version 1.6. Access to compressed files – ZIP Manager

With the ZIP Manager for S60 you can compress large email attachments to save bandwidth. You can also compress larger files stored on the device in order to save memory space. When receiving emails with zip attachments or downloading zip files from the internet on your S60 device, you need to have an application for handling zip files. ZIP Manager for S60 is a stand-alone application that allows you to create and open archive files, add files to the archive, and extract or delete files from the archive.
